Aerial dance is currently a movement and performance art form that utilizes suspended apparatuses for performance in the air. This dance method is the perfect way to live out your dreams of flying while getting extremely fit at the same time. Lyra and Silks are both challenging and daring but definetly not lacking in fun thrills! AltFit currently offers silks and lyra to our students for maximum exposure to the aerial arts. Open gym hours are your time to shine! Here you can practice for a competition, simply workout, film, take pictures, or just ahve a pole jam with peers! All apparatuses are open to members during these hours.

Taking a stretch intensive course weekly is the best way to improve your flexibility. We work on center and side splits, back bends, wrist and shoulder flexibilty, and much more in order to impove your dance and movement and overall health. This is a partner based stretch class to push yourself further than you would by yourself. No partner required! You will meet one in class :)

Aerial lyra is a circular, steel ring wrapped in athletic tape for grip. The lyra swings like a pendulum while spinning giving you plenty of artistic space for poses, tricks, and testing your core and balance at the same time. In this class, we start with warming your core before fully engagin it for the next hour. We learn how to enter the hoop and hold basic poses emphasizing form. We'll then put them into fun filled combinations and end the class with your personal artistic freestyle.

Aerial Silks is the use the fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral your body into and out of various positions. This dance and movement encorporates a full body workout while testing your core and balance. As the fabrics sway, you have to challenge yourself to remain balanced in your poses while engaging your upper body simultaneously. Sounds hard? Well the challenge of this artistic movement reaps massive benefits while you execute beautiful poses and embrace a new and super efficient method of getting fit. The class begins with basic warm ups and slowly moves into climbs. The basis of this course will be conditioning for inversions and will be tenative based on the attending students.
